Showcase your vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repair skills within the Fleet department of North Wales Fire and Rescue Service. Play an integral role within the emergency service helping to maintain the fleet whilst working as part of a team of multi-skilled vehicle technicians, gaining job satisfaction and the ability to progress in your career too!

In the Vehicle Technician job, you will be:

Responsible for the day-to-day servicing, inspection, predictive and preventative maintenance and repair of Fire Service vehicles and equipment
Coordinating your own workload, prioritising day to day assigned tasks and liaising with vehicle users and station crews, ensuring efficient route planning
Diagnosing and repairing Heavy and Light Vehicle complex faults in varied systems
Using technical manuals, wiring schematics and diagnostic information to determine cost and time efficient repairs for a variety of vehicles
Repairing vehicle mounted installations which will include; CCTV, telematics, mobile data terminals and data logging systems
Carrying out metal/welding repairs and fabrications to steel and alloy structures using varied equipment including approved modifications
Dealing with defect/accident damage roadworthiness assessments and compiling detailed reports
Accurately completing all job records and reports using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office, and the Fleet Management system
Contributing to a clean and safe working environment ensuring you adhere to relevant policies and procedures
Ensuring the ongoing security of the mobile maintenance vehicle (or other service vehicle) and associated high value equipment
Undertaking additional duties as necessary including being flexible and willing to adapt working patterns as required
To be considered for the Vehicle Technician role, you must have:

City and Guilds Level 3 Craft Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
Demonstratable experience in multi make Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or possess the ability to achieve this)
A high level of competency in diagnostic/electrical fault finding and rectification using diagnostic equipment
IT skills; using computers, Fleet Management Software, Microsoft Office packages, and the ability to produce and interpret reports and spreadsheets
An LGV category C driving licence or possess the ability to achieve it within the 12-month probationary period
Experience driving a range of vehicles from small cars to Large Goods Vehicles or possess the ability to achieve this
IRTEC Certificate of Competence to ‘Master Technician’ status or the ability to work towards achieving
In-depth knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety at work requirements relevant to the role
Excellent communication, prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, quick thinking with excellent problem solving
Flexible in order to work out of hours when required to
This is a full-time, permanent role working 37 hours per week on a salary of £29,174 to £31,895 per annum PLUS employee benefits. In addition, an 8.5% allowance will be paid for being part of the team that provides out of hours on-call cover, which is provided on a rota-based system. 

The workshop is based at Tre-Marl Industrial Estate in Llandudno Junction; however, the role will involve travelling out to stations and other sites as required, i.e., if any vehicles or equipment breaks down, you may need to attend the site or incident location to resolve.
