Sometimes a child can be distressed or upset and have no words to explain or describe what is happening for them.

This is even more true for children and young adults, who may not have the words or experience to make sense of what is happening to them or others around them. It is hard to see a child you care about struggling. Can you be that person that can make a difference?

We are actively recruiting Youth Engagement Workers to provide advice, assistance and support to young people. To act as an appropriate role model and to work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.

Ages range from 8-17 years old. Our processes are built around maintaining and building on good family relationships and reunification wherever possible. Our approach is always positive with regards to previous experiences providing the young people with strategies to help them in the future. We fully support community activities wherever possible. Clear boundaries are key within this setting but offered with compassion and empathy.

Salary between £23,856 – £24,500 dependent on experience The role:

To act as positive role model
Support in a structure rich environment, being consistent and nurturing
To liaise with parents, teachers, social workers, Therapists etc
Assisting the children to become as independent as possible
Mentoring and educating the children and young people we support
Supporting day to day activities to help build their social and emotional skills
Managing and understanding behaviours of concern and the reasons for them
Awareness of stresses or abuse, monitoring, recording and reporting
To assist young people with budgeting
Creating a therapeutic and healthy care environment
Positive engagement is key to encourage the children and young adults development
Well written and comprehensive record keeping is vital noting behavioural changes
Additional Senior duties will include staff supervisions, appraisals and a good understanding of Ofsted inspections Requirements:

Understanding and awareness of Child Protection issues, guidelines and procedures
Seniors must have experience of staff supervisions, appraisals and a good understanding of Ofsted inspections
Must be a driver with access to use of a vehicle
Ideally have 6 months experience working with children with EBD or similar
Excellent understanding of clear boundaries
Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent
Flexibility to work 2 days on 4 days off, Sleep In’s required
Excellent understanding of Safeguarding
