Job Title: Social Worker – Court Team

These roles are paying up to £42p/h an hour, high pay rates meaning more disposable income at the end of a hard working week.

This is a team of 5 managers, you will be undertaking child protection work and court work. The team are working towards a protected caseloads of 15-19.

The service is based in a modern working environment. This is a newly refurbished central town location for all of Social Services and Education & Early Intervention departments, with technology to support agile working, hot desking, bookable meeting areas and access to a canteen.

The Service is open to alternative work patterns such as condensed working and part time working hours subject to service needs/ current work patterns of the wider team.

Accommodation Allowance of £100 per week will be applicable for agency workers.

Agency worker induction programme to ensure proper introduction to the council, the service itself and the role. Including completion of key mandatory e-learning e.g. H&S, social care complaints, data protection & FOI and introduction to our social care systems / recording.

Access to development as required to undertake agency placements e.g. , Lunch and learn sessions with Social Care colleagues, in addition to mandatory training as part of the departments improvement journey (i.e. mental capacity)

Offering a nurturing and supportive working environment where wellbeing is a high priority for its workforce. Agency workers who are treated as part of the Social Services team with access to supportive managers, peer colleagues and access to wellbeing services as provided through the Care First assistance programme.

I qualified as a social worker in 2011 and have worked in a variety of social work settings since then. I began working as a social worker in the Family Support Team in February 2019. I was employed through an agency. I had at that time never worked within a Child Protection team, but I had had relevant experience from a different perspective. After a couple of months of working as an agency social worker I made the decision to apply for a permanent post. Since becoming a permanent member of staff I have had several opportunities to undertake specialist training. In May 2021 I transferred to the Assessment and Intervention Team and then successfully applied for the post of Assistant Team Manager which I started in October 2021.

Since working in this authority, despite working in 2 very fast paced teams, I have found it to be a supportive environment where people pull together and there is always someone to speak to for a second opinion. I think in this sort of environment this is what makes all the difference.

Firstly on arrival my first impression was that everybody was friendly and welcoming, this was not only my immediate team, but the wider community within children's services. Initially on arrival I had a number of court cases which needed immediate work and that was challenging with having child protection cases some of which had escalated to be managed under the PLO process. There has been some significant changes within the Team separating the Child protection work from the Court work and this works well.
