A leading not for profit organisation is looking for an experienced resettlement and outreach officer on a full-time temporary basis to engage with street homeless people across Gwynedd. You will be making a real difference to people’s lives helping them achieve resettlement in their own accommodation whilst working for a friendly, established company.
In the Resettlement and Outreach Officer job, you will be:
Coordinating and leading on housing advice for homeless people, those threatened with homelessness and rough sleepers in Gwynedd. This will involve liaising with relevant local agencies, to provide housing advice sessions at a range of locations (“drop ins”)
Monitoring, managing and providing a high-quality support service to all service users accessing the Outreach and Resettlement Service, in line with service specification and requirements of funders, local authority Homeless Departments and other key stakeholders.
Pro-actively engage with street homeless people and rough sleepers, working with them towards achieving resettlement into their own accommodation, improved physical and mental health outcomes and engagement with legitimate economic activity, in accordance with funding requirements and conditions for the Scheme.
Providing advice and information to the service users accessing the Scheme.
Providing ongoing support to ‘resettled clients’ to help them to maintain their own accommodation and reduce repeat homelessness
To be considered for the Resettlement and Outreach Officer job must have:
Previous experience in a similar role within the homelessness sector
Knowledge of housing and support, welfare benefits, homelessness and other relevant legislations
An enhanced DBS
An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
Knowledge of the support needs of vulnerable people.
Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, the Mental Capacity Act and related legislation (Mental Health Scheme only)
Experience in the delivery of customer-focused housing, community or support services.
A full driving licence and the availability of a vehicle for work purposes
Good IT skills
Ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage
This is a full time (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) position with an ASAP start and will be on a temporary week by week basis for approximately 2 months.
The hourly rate is £11.31 per hour plus holiday pay plus mileage expenses paid at HMRC rates. The role will require you to travel to properties/schemes throughout Gwynedd. Please note this role is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
