Company
We are working with a well established, SME equipment manufacturer part of a larger group who supply globally and are a dynamic and growing business who require a Supply Chain Manager to lead a small team of Buyers. 
  
The Role
Reporting into the Manufacturing Manager, you will be leading a small purchasing team alongside overseeing the companies sourcing capabilities and supply chain with a circa £10mil purchasing budget. You will be responsible for finding and evaluating suppliers, products and services, negotiating contracts and acquiring the most cost-efficient contracts without compromising on quality. You will be delegating projects to the purchasing team and support hands on where necessary. You will be performing all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management. You will be working closely with suppliers to build strong relationships and liaising with other internal departments to ensure the schedule is aligned.

Qualifications and Skills

Ideally have CIPS or working towards 
Must have 3+ years leadership (could be Operations/Production) experience within Manufacturing as a minimum, ideally from machine build engineering to be familiar with bespoke machined/fabricated parts
Experience with low volume, high value and variety 
Excellent communicator with the purchasing team, suppliers, other internal departments and board level 
Experience working with overseas suppliers
Ideally have knowledge of Kanban methodology 
Excellent interpersonal skills, organisation and very strong attention to detail
Conflict resolution and negotiation
Excellent attitude, natural people person
Flexibility for visiting suppliers in the UK and Europe and attending exhibitions when necessary  What you will get in return
