About the Company:
Transcontinental AC UK Ltd is a leading manufacturer of speciality films and coatings for the medical, security, optical and printing industries. We are now seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our growing Process Management Team at our manufacturing facility in Wrexham.
You will be responsible for introducing improvements to this high turnover production process with the objective of optimising coating processes, raising product quality, increasing machine efficiencies and executing capital projects. There will also be involvement in process development work for new product introductions. In addition, there will be close liaison work or processes and product quality with one of our major customers. This will involve international travel.
Process Manager Responsibilities:
To be responsible for the introduction of new products into the plant once the Process Design Team has validated them.
To run process trials associated with the introduction of new products or validation of process changes / new equipment introduction.
Responsible for ensuring that process conditions are optimised in order to maximise productivity and yield for a given set of standard products.
Responsible for yield management and improvement programmes for a set of standard products.
Ensure that process and quality data for a given set of standard products is monitored real-time, reported and acted on so that product being produced consistently meets customer specification and variability within run and between production runs is minimised.
To ensure that relevant customer complaints are investigated, and that root cause analysis is carried out to ensure effective containment of the excursion and that corrective actions are implemented. If necessary, engage with the customer to explain the containment actions as well as the root cause and corrective actions.
Ensure technician training relating to process and quality control is effectively conducted including the introduction of new equipment and products.
To lead the introduction of new equipment into operations for the purpose of process improvements/product development. If required write Capital Approval Request (CAR) documents to justify the purchase of process equipment.
Ensure that the Process Management Group leads troubleshooting on process and product issues that occur during regular production and develops and maintains reaction plans that guide the operators in resolving known problems themselves.
To lead projects to completion, whilst managing, and delegating customer requests as required.
To ensure that all duties are carried out in a safe manner and that any process changes or new equipment introduced meet the safety and environmental requirements of the business.
To manage one or more Process Engineer(s) or students including:
Setting objectives and monitoring progress and carrying out reviews of work done.
Ensuring the person is trained and working safely.
Dealing with any grievance or disciplinary matters.
Dealing with all personnel related matters in relation to the direct report.
Providing feedback, support and coaching.
To carry out other reasonable duties as required by management.
Process Manager Requirements:
Ideally working knowledge of the following: coating techniques, drying, fluid processing and web-handling, preferably gained in a similar process industry
Ideally educated to degree level in a science / chemical engineering discipline
At least 3 years industrial experience
Analytical, problem solving approach
Ability to generate and implement ideas are pre-requisites for this demanding role
