Import & Export Compliance Officer Full Time Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for an Import and Export Compliance Officer to join our clients expanding team based in Holywell, North Wales. Our client is a UK manufacturer of soft furnishings & upholstery.

The purpose of the role is to ensure compliance with all regulations in relation to incoming and outgoing freight and the associated customs requirements.

You will support the Company Accountant on assigned tasks and duties regarding compliance and Brexit. Managing activities related to transportation; being responsible for customs management of imports and exports and any other chartered goods movements.

Key responsibilities

Support business-wide compliance of government regulations concerning import, trade agreements, and global operations.
Trade compliance – VAT, duty, import & export.
To liaise with both internal and external customers and ensure all clearance queries and requests are resolved/followed through in a timely and effective manner.
Provide efficient and effective Customs Clearance Service.
To maintain accurate and comprehensive records as needed and ensure that all data sent to Revenue is fully accurate.
Vendor data management for classification of products.
Reporting and data gathering for different areas of the business.
Support on the implementation of new ways of working and processes across the business.
Work with the wider team on the creation of department SOP'sKnowledge required

Knowledge of the international shipping terms (Incoterms).
Knowledge of Post Brexit custom changes
Understanding of customs procedures, including export documentation requirements, Duty rates and Import duties.
Understanding of customs classification and tariff codes.
Excellent IT skills – Advanced user in all Microsoft packagesSkills required

Ability to manage and coordinate changing priorities and capable of planning and multi-tasking to complete assignments.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Self-motivated and able to develop ideas and initiatives
Ability to work in a collaborative manner as part of a broader team
