Role Profile

Ifor Williams Trailers (IWT) is Britain's leading trailer manufacturer, operating at four advanced manufacturing sites across North Wales. The company was established in 1958 and to date has manufactured over half a million trailers.

The wide product range includes Livestock, Horsebox, General Duty, Tipper, Plant, Flatbed, Box Van trailers, Car Transporters, and pick-up Canopies. The customer base is equally diverse, ranging from the agricultural community to the plant and commercial industry and the leisure sector.

As IWT look to further enhance their market presence, they are recruiting a Head of Procurement role that will lead a new procurement team. The role sits within the IWT senior management team and the right candidate will show a breadth of experience working with all functions, as well as suppliers and customers. You will be expected to lead and participate in the senior team and work with the company directors on tactical as well as transformation project.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the procurement function and its frameworks are aligned to the strategic plan by developing, implementing and managing strategies, processes and sourcing methods
Developing and maintaining strategic supplier relationships whilst leading procurement projects and initiatives
Strong negotiation skills with suppliers, showing authority and presence
Experience with supplier management and supplier CI improvement programmes
Work collaboratively with all functions to identify future trends and development requirements to bring new products and services to further enhance the IWT offering
Build a team and develop a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Design and implement KPIs that accurately reflect the procurement functions objectives
Use root cause analysis, continuous improvement and lean methodology to target improvements and achieve excellence
Strong focus on cost reduction and company focussed savings, whilst not compromising on quality or delivery
Escalate and address business risks without delay or hesitation
Investigate, and commission bringing component manufacturing inhouse in line with IWT business plans
Full accountability for sourcing the right quality of products and services
Regularly evaluate the operation of processes and controls

Skills & Experience Required

This is a hands-on role requiring the Head of Procurement to roll up their sleeves and be engrained in the day to day detail. Candidate requirements include:

Ability to read complex, technical, commercial and/or legal documentation
Experience in developing high level sourcing strategies
Strong operational Procurement background
Experience in leading and influencing internal stakeholders at an executive level
Proven experience working within a manufacturing environment
High level of education, including MCIPS qualification
